UN-SCAN-IT New Features

UN‑SCAN‑IT New Features - Graph Digitizing

Version 6.0 for Windows | Version 5.2 for Mac OS X

Drag and Drop Setup
Drag and Drop Setup

This new setup method allows all of the setup parameters to be defined by simply dragging icons to their appropriate locations on the graphical image.

Colored Data Recognition
Colored Data Recognition

The software can now use color averaging to recognize and digitize colored data lines and points.

Grayscale Data Recognition
Grayscale Data Recognition

The software can now use a grayscale intensity range to recognize and digitize grayscale data lines and points.

Improved Help Menus with Graphics
Improved Help Menus with Graphics

The new help screens contain more complete help descriptions, as well as new graphic images accompanying the description.

Improved Setup Icons
Improved Setup Icons

The software now displays a variety of setup icons on the graphical image that clearly identify all of the current setup parameters and their locations.

Polar Coordinate Digitizing
Polar Coordinate Digitizing

Graphs that have been recorded using a polar (r,) coordinate system can now be digitized in manual mode.

Raster Scan Scatter Plot Mode
Raster Scan Scatter Plot Mode

This new digitizing mode assigns a single (x,y) data point at the center of contiguous pixels of defined data color.

Graphical (x,y) Data Eraser
Graphical (x,y) Data Eraser

The new data eraser allows data points that were erroneously digitized due to stray marks, other data lines, axes lines, etc. to be erased from memory. This option can be very useful for deleting groups of stray digitized data points.

Horizontal/Vertical Grid Filter

A new grid filter that ignores horizontal and vertical lines within the search region can now be used to filter grid lines.

Intersecting Line Following

The software can be set to automatically pause when an intersecting line is encountered, or automatically estimate the continuance point of the line and continue automatically.

Auto Dashed/Dotted Line Following

This new feature allows the software to automatically estimate and continually update the vertical limits when following dashed or dotted lines.

Variable Surface Point Assignment

This new point assignment method allows the software to follow the top surface of the curve where the peaks go up, and the bottom surface where the peaks go down. This method is useful for digitizing graphs that contain both sharp upward and downward peaks.

Improved Transform Resolution

The final number of transformed data points can be selected as a priority, in addition to the regular method of selecting the absolute x data spacing.

Increased Number of Data Points

The maximum number of digitized (x,y) data points has been increased to 30,000 per data file.

Multi-Point Manual Digitizing

This version now contains a manual digitizing mode that will continuously digitize data points when the mouse is moved along a curve while depressing the mouse button.

Icon Slider

This feature allows all the current setup icons (and their corresponding location settings) to be moved in the desired direction. This feature can be especially useful when used in conjunction with the Save/Load Axis Setup Parameters option. By using these options, multiple graphs with similar axis parameters can be easily digitized by simply saving and loading the axis setup parameters, and then sliding the axis setup icons to account for the shifts that may have occurred during the scanning process.

Sample Images

Several sample images are now included in the UN‑SCAN‑IT folder. These sample images are useful in identifying the axis setup parameters, and provide useful examples of the digitizing process.

New User's Manual

The UN‑SCAN‑IT User's Manual has been enhanced with additional graphical examples, chapter guides, and additional feature descriptions.
